This is our second announcement for the “XVI meeting of the Chilean Astronomical Society” to be held in Temuco, from 8 to 12th of December 2020, at the beautiful Aula Magna of the Universidad de la Frontera.
Please note that the deadline for contributed talks is coming soon, on April 30, 2020.
The SOCHIAS annual meeting is the largest national astronomy and astrophysics science meeting in Chile. It started in 2002 in Santiago, and it is an event in which we can see and interact with the large demographics of our Chilean astronomical society. It is also a unique opportunity to present the latest astronomical and space research to a broad but regionally-focused audience, as well as make new connections and foster new collaborations in Chile.
For this opportunity, during 11-12 December, we expect to have a parallel activity organised by the Max Planck Society in main collaboration with Universidad Andrés Bello. For this event, there will be the participation of over a dozen Directors from Max Planck looking for collaborations with the Chilean community. More information will be provided soon by the organisers.
On the other hand, the meeting will be a week before the Solar Eclipse on December 14th, 2020, so it will facilitate opportunities to participate in outreach activities for the local communities. Please note, however, that for these dates accomodation in Temuco will be particularly busy, so we strongly encourage you to book your accommodation and transportation as soon as possible. More information will be available here https://sochias.cl/reunion2020/
Finally, we would appreciate it if you can circulate this as widely as possible among your colleagues.
