The Physics Institute of the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaiso is looking for young motivated scientists to fill two tenure-track positions in the area of astronomy and astrophysics. The candidates must have a PhD degree, postdoctoral experience and a proven track record in research in astrophysics and/or astronomy. In this position they are expected to do research, apply for external grants, and teach physics and astrophysics at the undergraduate and graduate level. The tenure-track period lasts between 2 and 4 years. This might lead to a permanent position, and the salary and academic hierarchy of this position will depend on performance during that period.
We are interested in scientists working on, but not limited to, the following fields: Large scale structure, Lyman alpha forest, inter-galactic medium, weak and strong lensing, galaxy clusters, 21 cm surveys, CMB physics, gravitational wave astronomy. Candidates who can potentially join and work with experiments in Chile are encouraged to apply. Candidates who can interact and collaborate with the members of our Institute will be given special consideration (http://fis.ucv.cl/personal/academicos/).
Interested candidates should send the following documents to the address dppa@pucv.cl.
