Cerro Chajnantor, Chile, Nov. 19, 2014
TAO / AIUC Joint Workshop for Optical/IR Astronomy

———————————————————————————————————————-

Aim: The University of Tokyo Atacama Observatory 6.5m Telescope is to construct a 6.5 m infrared-optimized telescope at the summit of Cerro Chajnantor, the world’s highest site of 5640m altitude. The telescope will see the first light on 2018, with two facility instruments SWIMS (NIR MOS spectrograph) and MIMIZUKU (MIR imager/spectrograph up to 40um). In this workshop, we would like to introduce the project and the instruments, and discuss the collaboration between Japan and Chile in its instrumentation, as well as the expected science cases.

Location: Auditorium Bralic – Institute of Physics, Campus San Joaquin,
Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile
metro station San Joaquin – Line 5

please confirm participation  not later than Nov 15 to: lmontene@aiuc.puc.cl
